Mission statement

The fundamental endeavor of The Financial Post is to discharge its responsibility towards its readers as a source of accurate information and a platform for informed comment.
Our quest is to produce a newspaper of the highest professional excellence. Invariably, The Financial Post targets the serious reader, particularly, the business executive including the decision maker in government, intellectual community and tomorrow’s leaders in our institutions of higher learning. It is a wide circle yet in a sense, an exclusive readership, and to showcase the commitment of The Financial Post to its venerable readership the newspaper will combine the best in scholarship with the best in literary journalism.
At The Financial Post we set the record straight with factual reporting, without begging the question. For we believe that journalism is a forum for debate, but it does not generate truth unless it is built on a foundation of accurate information.
And since The Financial Post acknowledges that journalism of unfiltered assertion makes separating fact from spin and argument from innuendo more difficult leaving society susceptible to manipulation, the newspaper is guided by an old professional adage: When in doubt, leave it out. Being first and wrong is worse than useless. It damages both journalism and society. Tellingly, therefore, the role of The Financial Post in society will be its “ruthless respect for the fact.”
Also, at The Financial Post, we engage generically all people of goodwill who seek to add value to society, particularly, those who are enterprising in the commercial sense. We also advocate for a disengagement of Government from doing business believing instead that the private sector should decidedly be the flagship of commercial enterprise.
Assuredly, the political section of The Financial Post is not a mere added-numb that provides a cosmetic appearance of a few political pages. On the contrary, the focus is on in-depth political analysis.
Succinctly, The Financial Post believes in a representative democracy with the National Constitution being the nation’s basic law. But very importantly, The Financial Post embodies the spirit of a unitary state by celebrating the diversity of our people regardless of their race, religious affiliation, political leaning including their ethnic origin.
As you will soon discover, The Financial Post is not a newspaper that you
read in a hurry and cast aside the next day.
Enjoy yourself.
